Sun Remedies and Strengthening Practices

Mantras, gemstones, charity, and behavioral practices to strengthen a weak Sun.

## Strengthening the Sun

When the Sun is weak by sign, house, or affliction, traditional Jyotish prescribes several approaches.

### Mantra

The primary mantra for the Sun is the **Gayatri Mantra** (Rigveda 3.62.10), recited at sunrise:

Om Bhur Bhuvah Swah Tat Savitur Varenyam Bhargo Devasya Dhimahi Dhiyo Yo Nah Prachodayat

Also used: **Aditya Hridayam** (from the Ramayana) and the **Surya Beej Mantra**: Om Hram Hrim Hraum Sah Suryaya Namah (recited 108 times on Sunday mornings).

### Gemstone

**Ruby (Manikya)** in gold, worn on the ring finger of the right hand, on a Sunday during the Sun's hora (first hour after sunrise on Sunday). Minimum weight: 3 to 5 carats. Always use a jyotish-quality, untreated, natural ruby. Consult a qualified astrologer before wearing.

### Charity and Service

- Donate **wheat, jaggery, copper, or red cloth** to the needy on Sundays - Serve father figures, teachers, and those in authority - Feed birds (especially red-colored or golden birds)

### Behavioral Remedies

- Wake before sunrise and face east for a few moments - Reduce ego-driven behavior; practice genuine humility - Strengthen relationships with father or father figures

### Timing

Sun transits each sign for approximately **one month**. Its dasha period in the Vimshottari system is **6 years**. Remedies are especially important during Sun Mahadasha or Antardasha periods when a natal Sun weakness will be most prominent.

Key Takeaway

Ruby, Gayatri Mantra at sunrise, and Sunday charity to father figures are the primary Sun remedies.
