In Vedic astrology, Rahu is linked to ambition, desire and foreign things. Ketu is linked to detachment and looking inward. They always sit exactly opposite each other and move backwards through the zodiac.
On 5 December 2026, by the mean node that most Indian panchangs use, Rahu leaves Aquarius and enters Capricorn, while Ketu leaves Leo and enters Cancer. They stay there for about eighteen months, until mid-2028.
What Capricorn and Cancer stand for
Capricorn is Saturn's sign and stands for work, status and patience. Cancer is the Moon's sign and stands for mother, home and emotional security. With Rahu in Capricorn, many people will want more at work: a promotion, a bigger title, permanent residency or a growing business. With Ketu in Cancer, home life may feel less satisfying than before.

On 2 August 2027 there is a total solar eclipse with the Sun in Cancer alongside Ketu. It is one of the longest of this century and will be visible as a partial eclipse from parts of the UK. The classical remedies are simple. For Rahu, many families chant Om Raam Rahave Namah on Saturdays. "Raam" here is a seed sound and the rest means "salutations to Rahu". For Ketu, the parallel mantra is Om Kem Ketave Namah. A classical daan for Rahu is giving blankets in winter, which in Toronto or Leicester can mean taking warm clothing to a shelter in December. For Ketu, seva at a temple, a gurdwara langar or a community kitchen is the traditional act. These practices do not replace good decisions, but many people find they help them stay calm.
