Dhan Yoga: How to Read Wealth in Your Kundli, and Good Money Months in 2026 and 2027
Wealth in a Vedic chart is not one planet. It is a conversation between the 2nd, 5th, 9th and 11th houses. Here is how to read your Dhan Yogas, and why Jupiter in Leo and Rahu in Capricorn matter for money in 2027.

Money is one of the most common questions people bring to an astrologer, even if they do not ask it first. "Will I be comfortable?" "Will the business work?" "When can we afford the house?" Vedic astrology has a clear method for reading this.
The combinations that promise wealth are called Dhan Yogas. Like every yoga, they only show potential. The dasha decides when they give results, and the transits decide the month. Jupiter in Leo and Rahu in Capricorn will affect money matters for many people over the next eighteen months.
The four houses of money
- 2nd house: accumulated wealth, savings, family assets, food and speech. What you keep.
- 11th house: income, gains, profit, the network that brings opportunity. What comes in.
- 5th house: intelligence, speculation, investments, past merit. What you grow.
- 9th house: fortune, blessings, father, dharma. Luck and help from others.
The 1st house, you, ties them together. A chart where the lords of these houses meet, aspect each other or exchange signs carries a Dhan Yoga.
Common Dhan Yogas
- Classical Dhan Yoga: the 2nd and 11th lords joined, or in each other's houses. Income turns into savings.
- Lakshmi Yoga: a strong 9th lord in a kendra or trikona, with a strong lagna lord. Fortune that supports comfort.
- Chandra-Mangal Yoga: the Moon and Mars together. Earning through effort, trade, property or one's own enterprise.
- Guru-Mangal Yoga: Jupiter and Mars together. Wealth through principled action, often in law, engineering or property.
- Jupiter in the 2nd, 5th, 9th or 11th: generally good for money, especially when Jupiter is strong.
Examples: two money charts
Picture Rajesh Iyer, 42, a pharmacist who now owns three pharmacies in Melbourne's south-east. His Taurus lagna makes Mercury the lord of his 2nd and 5th houses. Mercury sits in his 11th house in Pisces with Jupiter. That is a classical Dhan Yoga supported by Jupiter, though Mercury is debilitated in Pisces. Money was tight in his early twenties. Things improved when his Jupiter Mahadasha began at 34, which is when he opened his second pharmacy.
Now picture Kiranjit Kaur Mann, 37, a government policy adviser in Ottawa. Her chart has no famous wealth combination, but it has a strong 2nd house and Saturn exalted in Libra. Her money grows slowly and safely: a defined-benefit pension, and a home she expects to pay off by 50. Not every good money chart is a business chart.
Money transits in 2026 and 2027
From the Moon, Libra (Jupiter in the 11th), Cancer (Jupiter in the 2nd), Gemini (Saturn in the 11th from June 2027) and Pisces (Rahu in the 11th from December 2026) have the most money-friendly transits of the coming year. Capricorn Moons, with Jupiter in the 8th and Rahu on the Moon, should be the most careful with debt, guarantees and investments they do not fully understand.
Be careful with get-rich-quick schemes
Rahu in Capricorn for the next eighteen months is likely to bring more get-rich-quick offers than usual. Expect big promises from new apps and schemes. Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, and Saturn's rule is that lasting wealth builds slowly. Be wary of anything that promises to skip that step.
For NRIs, this often shows up as pressure to put money into property back in India sight unseen, or to lend to relatives without paperwork. A strong 2nd house protects you only if you use it: keep records, read contracts, and take a second opinion.
A classical wealth practice
The traditional upaya for wealth are gratitude and giving. Many families chant the Shri Suktam on Fridays, or the simple Om Shreem Mahalakshmyai Namah, in which "Shreem" is a seed syllable associated with Lakshmi and the rest means "salutations to Mahalakshmi". On Thursdays, giving food or school supplies to those who need them is a traditional offering to Jupiter.
AstroPal does not recommend paid rituals, stones or charms for money. If someone asks you to pay to "unlock" your Dhan Yoga, do not pay.
Money periods inside a dasha
Even a strong Dhan Yoga does not pay out evenly. Within a good Mahadasha, the Antardashas of the 2nd and 11th lords usually bring the visible jumps in income, while the 6th, 8th and 12th lords' sub-periods bring costs: a loan, a family obligation, a move. Knowing which is coming lets you save during the good sub-period instead of spending it all, so the next costly one does not feel like a crisis.
Read your own money chart
You need your lagna to know which planets rule your 2nd, 5th, 9th and 11th houses, and your dasha to know when those planets are active. With both, you can see which years and months are better for asking for a raise, starting a business or saving.
