What is Vedic Numerology?
The ancient science of Ankashastra and how numbers shape your life path.
Vedic numerology, known as Ankashastra or Sankhya Shastra, is the study of the hidden numerical vibrations in your birth date and name. Unlike Western numerology (which derives primarily from Pythagorean and Chaldean systems), Vedic numerology is deeply connected to the nine planets (Navagraha) of Jyotish (Vedic astrology).
In Vedic numerology, each of the numbers 1 through 9 corresponds to a specific planet. Your birth date reduces to one of these nine digits, and that digit reveals the planetary energy that most fundamentally shapes your personality, strengths, and life patterns.
THE THREE CORE NUMBERS
- Driver Number (Moolank): Calculated from your birth date alone (the day of the month). This is your core personality number - the energy you lead with in the world.
- Conductor Number (Bhagyank): Calculated from your full birth date (day + month + year added together). This is your life path and destiny number - the larger arc of your journey.
- Name Number (Namank): Calculated from the numerical value of the letters in your name. This is the vibration you project and attract socially.
WHY NUMBERS MATTER IN VEDIC TRADITION: In Vedic cosmology, the universe is fundamentally mathematical. The Sanskrit concept of "Nada Brahma" (the universe as sound and vibration) extends naturally to number: each digit represents a frequency, and your birth data encodes which frequencies you are most aligned with.
Numerology is not fate prediction in a deterministic sense. It is a map of tendencies, gifts, and challenges - a language that complements your Vedic birth chart. Many Indian families consult both the Jyotish chart and numerological readings when naming a child, starting a business, or choosing a wedding date.
HOW THIS COURSE WORKS: You will start with the nine single-digit vibrations and their planetary rulers. Then you will learn to calculate and interpret your Driver and Conductor numbers. Then Name numbers, compound numbers, and finally how to blend numerology with your Vedic chart for deeper insight.
Key Takeaway
Numbers are not superstition - they are a structured language for understanding the frequencies that run through your birth date, name, and life events.
